Let It Go......

One of the most difficult things for us to do is to allow ourselves to be set free….truly FREE. Satan, very cunningly, uses our past to hold us hostage. Why won’t we simply let go? We hold to times from our past, people, actions, occasions, etc. that keep us in slavery. Because of fear, uncertainty, doubt, lack of confidence….and many other reasons, we continue to hold on to what keeps us from moving forward in freedom. We don’t know what it is like to take a deep breath and exhale without feeling a bit of anxiety tugging at us. One of the best medicines is to open up and talk to someone. Hearing our own words express our feelings, emotions outwardly helps to bring clarity to where we are in our lives. To listen to the record that continues to play in our heads is a never-ending cycle of abuse that we place on ourselves because our reluctance to let go once and for all. Is it easy…..no. I am learning that very little in life is actually easy, except for love and sometimes that is a struggle as well. If you do not have anyone that you feel you can be 100% honest with about what is holding you in slavery, speak to God. Believe me, it is not empty conversation. He knows your story, He will listen, and if you allow Him, He WILL set you Free.

Life is so brief and it is sad when we hold our own selves hostage to things that need to be released from us….even if they are people. We can become slaves to anything that we do not let go of. Satan knows our personalities and our weaknesses; therefore, he will always use them against us. In Galatians 5:1, we read….” For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” We have a habit of throwing the chains off, but then picking them back up and hurling them around our necks. Again and again, we cut-off our freedom. He says to let it go….all of it….LET IT GO! Be firm in knowing that He is in control, He will see us through, and He will provide. Do NOT pick that “thing/person”…whatever it is… back up. In doing so, we are rejecting the gift of freedom that has been given freely to each of us. Amen! †
