Good Friday.....Resurrection Sunday is Coming!
"And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen...." Luke 24:2-6

Good Friday is a day we remember the crucifixion of Jesus, but there’s more to it than remembering. We want to embrace the resurrection, but Jesus calls us to the cross, too. Today is Friday, but Sunday’s coming! Friday is the road to Sunday. There’s no Easter Sunday without Good Friday. There is no resurrection without the cross. Good Friday provides the opportunity to proclaim….Once you’ve been to the cross, everything changes. Resurrection Sunday is about the empty tomb. but first, it’s about the cross on Good Friday. For believers, Good Friday is a crucial day of the year because it celebrates what we believe to be the most momentous weekend in the history of the world. Ever since Jesus died and was raised, believers have proclaimed the cross and resurrection of Jesus to be the decisive turning point for all creation. Paul considered it to be “of first importance” that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and was raised to life on the third day, all in accordance with what God had promised all along in the Scriptures…1 Corinthians 15:3. Good Friday is “good” because as terrible as that day was, it had to happen for us to receive the joy that followed. Our message from 1 Peter 2:24 reads……“He Himself bore our sins” in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by His wounds you have been healed.” Happy and Blessed Good Friday to each of you!
