Devotional: It's All About Love....







In 1 Corinthians, Paul describes various spiritual gifts and ways we can demonstrate Godly living in the world. He touches on the gift of tongues, prophecy with understanding, and faith that could move mountains. Yet somehow, he passes all of these things for just one thing: Love. 

 In 1 Corinthians 13:13 he says, “Three things will last forever: faith, hope, and love-and the greatest of these is love.”

Quick Update on Larry and I - March 15, 2021

Quick update on Larry and I: Today Larry had a chest X-ray at the Bruno Cancer Center. Then, we left there at went to his appointment with Larry’s Cardio Surgeon. Everything checked out great. They are now going to be focusing more on his Carotid Arteries. They want to get more details which will mean more in-depth tests to see where he is with that situation. This Wednesday, he will see his Urologist. He will have a test to see where he stands with his Prostate Cancer. It will let us know if the Radiation Treatments worked. On our way home from the Cardio visit today, we received a call from his primary doctor, Dr. Tompkins in Luverne. Last week, Larry noticed blood and we had the Home Health Nurse take a urine specimen. The results are in and the specimen showed a bacteria, Klebsiella Pneumoniae...in other words...another UTI. Update: Liver Biopsy - PET Scan - Treatment Changes

  As most of you already know, I had a Liver Biopsy, a PET Scan, and a Bloodwork Profile and I have waited to get all results prior to writing a blog post update. I also had a lengthy consultation with my Oncologist, Dr. Bondly, yesterday.  First, I want to start off with a Super Praise God moment! My Liver Biopsy confirmed that my cancer has not changed to Her2-. It remains ER+ Her2+. That means we have been on the right treatment path. There is a strong possibility, however, that the Femara, Letrozole, that I took for 18 months did not work. It is a hormone based chemotherapy taken orally. It was to help lower my hormone and estrogen levels which in-turn was to help fight my cancer. We will find out more about that from the genetic portion of the Liver Biopsy when the results come back in about 3 weeks. Devotional: Serve the "least of these".....and "love one another."

Often, especially in a sizable city, we are approached by homeless people or we come to an intersection off the interstate and there will be a person with a sign over-viewing their situation and will be in need of money. My preference is to give them food, or a food gift-card rather than cash; however, that is not always an option. So then, a decision has to be made. Do I not give because I am concerned if they will use the money in a manner I consider appropriate or will I give because it is an act of kindness and let Jesus sort out the rest? Several in Birmingham even have homeless dogs with them. It is so easy to look and judge….well, if they are really hungry and need money for shelter….why have a dog to feed and take care of? That dog might be their only friend and companion on this earth. That dog might be what makes them feel love and helps keep them sane in the middle of their chaos.
