Devotional: Make Disciples.....

What is our mission as believers of Jesus? We are commissioned by Jesus, Himself, to teach the lost, make disciples, and baptize them. Disciples make disciples, and they make disciples....and the journey continues.

“Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:16-20

If we REALLY love as we have been instructed, then discipling others will be our central focus as followers of Jesus. If we LOVE others, we will do all in our power to bring them to Jesus.

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Matthew 22:36-40

God has given us a gift and He has made us a promise, but we must be willing to accept the gift in the manner He describes in Acts 2. The Scriptures are very clear as to how we make disciples and what happens to us in baptism. Use His Scriptures and the Holy Spirit’s leading to make disciples. We want....just as God does....for ALL to be saved.

“God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
Acts 2:36b-39
