MD Anderson

I had to have a COVID test at MD Anderson in the 22nd. Even though I just had one in the hospital, they require a test to be taken there. Then, you must wait for the results.

Right now all I know is that a liver biopsy is being ordered. A biopsy done here or in Birmingham; however, takes approximately the same time so we will wait to Birmingham to do the liver biopsy. Kimberly Koenig, MD, my MD Anderson Breast Cancer Specialist, wasn’t sure if she agreed completely with Dr. Bondly’s conclusions or not. They will have a conversation tomorrow to discuss my treatment plan moving forward.

Continued prayers are appreciated.  ðŸ’•

I can’t really comment about my MD Anderson experience yet. It left us with a lot of questions and with decisions that have to be made. I have been very emotional. I will have a liver biopsy on June 30th and on July 2nd I will have blood tests and a consultation with Dr. Bondly.

I appreciate all prayers and love y’all. 💕

We left our hotel room in Kenner, LA, 12 miles to the west of New Orleans, around 9:30 this morning. We didn’t stop to eat…just a gas stop and a couple of bathroom breaks. We made it home around an hour ago. It feels so good to be back in Alabama!

So thankful and blessed to have had a safe trip to Houston and back. Although I don’t have clear direction as to how we will proceed to fight my cancer, I believe the liver biopsy will tell us a lot. Hopefully, we will get the biopsy results next week that will tell us if my type of cancer has changed after it went to my liver. The genetic testing results from my biopsy will take approximately 3 weeks.

At this point, all we can do is wait and pray…and pray and wait. Worry and stress will not change my path.

My faith is strong and I’m praying God will continue to direct my cancer journey.

Your continued prayers for my healing are treasured blessings. 💕

****Clarification****

Some have asked me if I’m saying my cancer might not be in my liver. No. I have multiple cancerous lesions on my liver.

The liver biopsy will tell us if my type of cancer has changed. If that is the case, my treatments will need to change. I should get this results by next week. As soon as we get the type verified, we can decide on a treatment plan. There will also be genetic testing from the biopsy which will take around 3 weeks for results.
